Cloud Computing Coming to E-Books

On August 1, Macmillan is launching Dynamic Books, which is an electronic book publishing system where  professors can modify textbooks through an internet connection.  Professors can add notes, delete sections and even add video.  Students and Professor can view the same version of the book at the same time, so if the professor edits the book, students see the edits immediately.

The cost of a Dynamic Book is about one third the cost of the traditional print version, and students can access the Dynamic books online or download them to laptops, iPhones or Apple’s much anticipated iPad.

Coming in 2011, Dynamic Books will integrate with FaceBook and Twitter to allow students to share notes with friends and hold study group sessions through these social networks.
