Amazon to Unleash Academic Version of Kindle
The Wall Street Journal and the New York Times are both reporting that Amazon.com is planning to unveil a larger screen 'academic' version of the Kindle with an enhanced browser. Initially, six universities will participate in this pilot project, including Pace, Case Western Reserve, Princeton, Reed, Darden School at the University of Virginia, and Arizona State.
In my opinion, e-text books make perfect sense, especially for undergraduate students taking a full load of classes and currently lugging 40 pounds of text books on their back. I hope the pilot project succeeds wildly and that more universities will adopt an e-book plan!
